Welcome Message

Welcome to St. Charles College. Let your journey towards high school begin here. I am very proud to say that at St. Charles College we offer specialized programs to meet the needs and passions of all of our students. We offer the best in a full range of academic programming, including our new Advanced Placement program and Hockey Canada Skills Academy, French Immersion, Indigenous Studies, Experiential, Alternative and Special Education. Regardless of the destination, all of our pathways lead to success.

We are very excited to begin Advanced Placement here at SCC beginning in Grade 9 with Pre-Ap courses. Through this worldwide recognized program, students will work with specially trained AP teachers in enriched-level courses. These courses lead to university credits and/ or advanced standing at most Canadian and US universities. These courses are also highly engaging, challenging and rewarding. SCC offers Pre-Advanced Placement courses in Mathematics, Science and English- leading to Grade 12 AP courses in Calculus, Biology, Physics and English.

St. Charles College offers the best in a full range of academic programming, including French Immersion, Native Studies, and Special Education, as well as access to Science labs, Foods and Music rooms. Our programs are enhanced with a complete extracurricular program of athletics, arts, clubs and activities. Our motto of Goodness, Discipline and Knowledge is embodied in all that we do.

SCC has just been accepted as an official Hockey Canada Skills Academy high school. As such, new in September, we will be offering both regular Hockey Focus classes, as well as Advanced Hockey classes -both with specially trained staff, as part of the Hockey Canada Skills Academy.

We are very proud of our Technology programs at SCC. Students can take classes in Automotive technology, construction technology, design and communication technology. Our communication technology program offers classes in coding, web design, graphic design and web-based media.

Our classrooms are equipped with SmartBoards, iPad Minis and Laptop Carts. Laptops and iPad Minis are available for students to sign-out through our Student Success Room. We have a brand-new Learning Commons, which offers our students a technology hub where students can collaborate and create together in a state of the art student center. St. Charles College is completely wireless, and we welcome students to bring their own devices to use daily in all of their classes.

Our athletic program is the best in the city! The St. Charles Cardinals proudly dis-play athletic banners for city, NOSSA and OFSAA championships in gymnastics, flag football, soccer, hockey, dragon boat and volleyball. All sports are offered at St. Charles Collegeā€¦basketball, volleyball, hockey, badminton, curling, football, golf, skiing, softball, slo pitch, soccer, swimming, tennis, track and field, gymnastics, wrestling, and cross-country running, along with a daily lunchtime intramural program.

Our arts program is second to none. Each year St. Charles College attends local and out of town competitions. Our music students win numerous awards at the Kiwanis Festival. Our vocal class has been fortunate enough to be selected to perform with the Sudbury Symphony Orchestra. Our musical performances are created to mirror the caliber of local professional theatres. We embody not only the artistic, musical, and acting components, but we allow our students to utilize their own life experiences.

We are committed to providing our students with leadership opportunities through our Student Council, Athletic Council and Arts Council. Such clubs as library, year-book, math, chess, debating, choir, computer, photography, mission society, and liturgy allow our students to grow socially and establish long- lasting friendships and memories.Our student services department, chaplaincy service, student success program, peer-tutoring, homework evenings, peer-mentoring programs and daily breakfast program support our students throughout the year.

We are committed to a Christian environment in which our students develop a sense of self-discipline, social justice and service to the greater community. Our students participate in several projects that support our community, including our annual food drive, Christmas toy drive, cancer awareness program, senior citizen support, blood donor clinics and individual mission causes.
